Rihanna tells Paper: I want to be the black Madonna

Paper Magazine recently conducted an interview with Bajan songstress Rihanna in which she explained her recent change of image: "At first, I felt like I was being lost in the race," she says. "I felt like a lot of it was because we all had a similar look; we were all classified as R&B girls." Rihanna shocked her label, and the R&B industry by cutting her honey-highlighted hair: "I wanted to get a little dirty, dye my hair black and cut it short." Commenting on the name of her latest album, Good Girl Gone Bad she said: "It really represents my liberation--how I wanted to do everything my way [...] I was tired of people forcing me to be a certain image." she added: "I want to be the black Madonna."
